A private fund to help pay for restoring Windsor Castle after last year's fire is being discussed with Buckingham Palace, the Government has said. Peter Brooke, the Secretary of State for National Heritage, told the Commons that assistance had been offered and there was 'a possibility of a private fund being set up'. Mr Brooke said the cost of clearing up, making safe and protecting the site of the blaze would be about pounds 1.5m.
