War in Europe: Kosovo Appeal: Charity update

READERS OF The Independent and Independent on Sunday have generously donated pounds 765,000 for food, blankets, baby and hygiene kits and water purification equipment to help Kosovar refugees flooding into Albania and Macedonia. But more is urgently needed.

Health and sanitation are deteriorating in the camps despite the best efforts to cope. Aid agencies fear epidemics with the warmer weather, and riots caused by desperate overcrowding. Setting up new camps has become a priority issue.
