Police respond to a noise complaint and end up joining the block party slip 'n' slide

Neighbours said the officers had 'such a good energy'

Two police officers responded to a noise complaint, but instead of telling people to quiet down they joined in on the slip n' slide with neighbourhood kids.

Officers Joe Jones and Carrie Lee in Asheville, North Carolina got a call about a loud 4 July party and that the large slip n' slide parents had set up was blocking the road.

When they arrived they "noticed the noise was fine. It was literally the sound of kids playing," public information officer Christina Hallingse told ABC News. She said they also saw that the slide still allowed cars and emergency vehicles to pass through.

Resident Katlen Joyce Smith called it "one of the best moments ever" in a Facebook post with video of the day.

"We looked at it and determined it wasn't really an issue," Officer Carrie Lee said in a video the Asheville police department posted on social media. "The first thing I said [was] I'm not here to break up your fun."

Travis Eagledove, a neighbourhood resident, said Mr Jones and Ms Lee "had such good energy. All the kids were loving it."

Ms Lee asked for a rubbish bag, took off some of her equipment, and went for a slide down. She appears excited at the end that she managed to stay dry.

Mr Jones said he thought he could get out of it because he was too large to use the plastic bag, but then the children brought out a small raft to let Mr Jones take his turn too, ending with a splash in a small pool at the end. "My butt is wet," said Mr Jones as children nearby laughed.

Mr Eagledove told ABC News that "even out of the all the adults and everybody, that’s the only time the inner tube made it from all the way to the bottom.”
