200 die in Afghan fighting
More than 200 people have been killed in fighting in the southern province of Kandahar in the last few days, sources at the International Committee of the Red Cross said yesterday, Reuter reports from Quetta in Pakistan. Fighting in the province, which borders Pakistan, has raged for three days between forces loyal to President Burhanuddin Rabbani and supporters of guerrilla groups claiming the governorship of Kandahar.
