Los Angeles (Reuter) - Police arrested 59 people after a demonstration in support of four black men, who are accused of attacking a white truck driver, turned violent in the same area as last spring's riots in Los Angeles.

The demonstration in Los Angeles's South Central neighbourhood on Monday night became a small riot when angry crowds tossed rocks and bottles at police. Twelve people were injured, police said, but no officers were hurt. The South Central intersection of Florence and Normandie Avenues, where the disturbance took place, was quiet yesterday morning.
