Accord for Guatemala
Guatemalan rebels and
government leaders signed an accord aimed at ending 36 years of civil war. The agreement, signed at the Spanish Foreign Ministry, is aimed at reinserting the rebels into society. The final peace treaty, negotiated over seven years, will be signed in Guatemala, officially ending Central America's last and longest civil war. AP - Madrid
