Hailemariam Desalegn is to be sworn in as Ethiopia's new prime minister on Friday.
He is the hand-picked successor of former Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, who died on 20 August after ruling Ethiopia for more than two decades. Mr Hailemariam was deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister under Mr Meles. His elevation was delayed when an emergency meeting of parliament was cancelled last month.
