Disney California: Passengers left stranded on Mickey's Fun Wheel for nearly two hours

Passengers on a Ferris wheel at Disney California Adventure Park were left stranded for nearly two hours after the ride became stuck, it has been reported.

About 30 guests on Mickey's Fun Wheel had to wait while workers at the park manually restarted the ride before they could be evacuated.

Larry Sanchez, 54, who had visited the park with his family, told the Orange County Register: "The minutes took forever.

"It was hot. Thank God there was a little bit of wind."

Earlier, the park had told CBS Los Angeles: "We are working to evacuate our guests as soon as possible. The safety of our Guests and Cast Members is our highest priority."

Nobody was injured in the incident and it was unclear whether the Ferris wheel would be in operation on Friday.

Earlier this week it was reported that rollercoaster passengers at Lightwater Valley, near Ripon, North Yorkshire, were left horrified when a young deer was killed after straying too close to the tracks.

A number of passengers on the ride were left with blood on their clothes following the incident.

The deer had managed to make its way past a perimeter fence surrounding the theme park before getting too close to the tracks of The Ultimate rollercoaster.

No passengers were injured in the incident on Saturday although the 1.5 mile ride had to be closed for half an hour while checks were carried out.
