Fox News sides with Boris Johnson on Isis: 'He may have crazy hair but underneath it is a mind that knows the holy war has begun'

Boris Johnson's main aim may only be on pleasing the voters in London's Uxbridge ahead of next year's election, but it seems he has a long list of admirers across the pond at Fox News.

In the London Mayor's most recent newspaper column, he said that British citizens who travel to "war areas" such as Iraq and Syria should be presumed possible terrorists until they can prove themselves innocent.

Johnson's call for a tougher stance to deal with British extremists came after a video last week showed a suspected Islamic State (Isis) militant from the UK killing the US journalist James Foley

It's this stance by Johnson that caught the attention of Greg Gutfeld, a host on Fox News' The Five show, who praised the London Mayor for not cowering in the face of extremism.

"Why is he freaking out? Because smart people should freak out! Up to 3,000 Isis fighters could be Brits, meaning they have passports and can come back," Gutfeld said, before going on to criticise US President Barack Obama for his inaction in dealing with Isis' spread across Iraq and Syria.

"Obama should get his head out of his golf bag or get out of town... It’s time to dispense with political correctness and get over being nice. Nice equals death. Especially for us as more extremists with passports can come here without a visa," Gutfeld added before going on to argue that Americans "must follow Boris".

"He may have crazy hair, but underneath it is a mind that knows the holy war has begun and finishing it requires ending the politeness. And if our president isn’t up to it, then find someone who is. Hell, maybe it’s better if he stays on the (golf) course for good."

Johnson may not be overly keen with Fox News' wholehearted support, given that the cable channel is well known for its biased reporting, extreme right-leaning positions and frequent insensitivity. One Fox news anchor recently branded Robin Williams "a coward" just hours after he was found dead in his California home in an apparent suicide.

Indeed, even if Johnson may be happy with any support for his controversial take on the rise of Isis, he may not agree with Kimberly Guilfoyle's reaction to his opinions.

Guilfoyle - a co-host on The Five show - was asked by Gutfeld whether it would be legal for Johnson to strip people of their citizenship.

"Guess what? I don’t care. In fact, I hope we violate a lot of their civil liberties. This is war, this is terror, there should be no mercy involved because they have shown none," Guilfoyle responded.

Guilfoyle went on to say that President Obama was being indecisive and that more had to be done. She event suggested replacing Obama in the White House on a temporary basis.

"I mean, can I just make a special request in the magic lamp? Can we get like (Benjamin) Netanyahu or (Vladimir) Putin for 48 hours as head of the United States? I don’t know. I just want somebody to get in here and get it done right so that Americans don’t have to worry and wake up in the morning fearful of a group that’s murderous and horrific like Isis."

As extreme as that concept sounds, Johnson would no doubt would like to take over from Cameron on a more permanent basis than just 48 hours.
