The search for a British cruise line worker who disappeared at sea last month took a curious twist yesterday after her family was informed of activity on her credit card. Rebecca Coriam, 24, from Chester, vanished from the Disney Wonder less than 24 hours after it sailed out of Los Angeles on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera on 22 March.

Despite an extensive search, police have yet to find a body or any evidence of foul play.

Ms Coriam's mother recently received an email from her daughter's bank that reported "financial activity" on the missing woman's account after her disappearance.

Ms Coriam's parents have been asked to keep the exact details of activity on the account confidential to avoid hampering the police investigation.

But enquiries are taking place in connection with authorities in the Bahamas.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "Any financial irregularities would be handled by the police."
