A mother and her baby have had a narrow escape after a car scaled the pavement and hurtled towards them, missing them by inches.

CCTV footage from the incident in San Francisco shows the terrifying moment two cars collided.

A white SUV barrels sideways and heads towards some outdoor steps, which the mother and her small child are crossing.

The quick-thinking woman manages to pull the pram out of harm’s way just as the car slams into the handrail.

The incident happened at 9.45am on Friday, according to CBS San Francisco.

Both of the male adult drivers were taken to hospital.
