The NBA Finals are set to tip off and this year’s matchup is one of the juiciest in recent memory, with reigning Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry leading the Golden State Warriors against the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James, who is widely regarded as the best player in the NBA.

As is common in our digital age, interest has led many people to Google various questions about the NBA Finals. So we have decided to help out and answer the top-five questions people asked Google about the NBA’s championship.

When do the NBA Finals start?

Game 1 is Tuesday night from Oracle Arena, the home of the Warriors. The Warriors also play host for Game 2 on Sunday. Then the series shifts to Cleveland for games 3 and 4, on 9 June and 11 June, respectively.

If Game 5 is necessary – again, it’s a best-of-seven series – it will be in California on 14 June. Game 6 – in Cleveland – would be on 16 June and Game 7 – Cali – would be on 19 June.

Who will win the NBA Finals?

Depends on who you ask. The odds makers have the Warriors as favourites to win the first game and the series, but the experts don’t all agree. Of the 27 ESPN basketball reporters and analysts surveyed, five picked the Cavaliers to be champions.

What channel is (sic) the NBA Finals on?

In the US, the Finals will be shown on ABC and will be available via live-stream on ESPN3.

How do you win an NBA championship?

The simple answer is to win four out the seven games in the NBA Finals.

The more complex answer is for an NBA franchise to hire a general manager who is good at identifying complementary talent, land at least one superstar player, hire a head coach who can bring the best out of those players, play well enough to make the NBA playoffs, win three playoff series in your respective conference, be lucky enough to remain relatively injury-free, and then win four out of the seven games of the NBA Finals.

How many times has LeBron James been to the finals (sic)?

Six. LeBron went to the NBA Finals in 2007 during his first stint with the Cavaliers, where he lost to the San Antonio Spurs. Then, as a member of the Miami Heat, James went to four straight Finals, winning two championships. This year is his fifth-consecutive appearance in the Finals.
