Roseanne Barr tweets she's 'not racist' after racist tweets lead to show cancellation

She says that she is considering all of her options just a day after her show was cancelled

Just a day after Roseanne Barr’s ABC show Roseanne was cancelled over a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, the former television star has tweeted a defence of herself saying she is “not a racist”.

Barr had said just after her show’s cancellation that she was leaving Twitter, but stayed on tweeting and retweeting accounts defending her and asserting she is not racist.

“I’m not a racist, I never was & never will be. One stupid joke in a lifetime of fighting 4 civil rights 4 all minorities, against networks, studios, at the expense of my nervous system/family/wealth will NEVER b taken from me,” Barr wrote in a tweet Wednesday afternoon.

The tweet was followed by another saying that the support she has seen on Twitter has made her “feel like fighting back”.

“I will examine all of my options carefully and get back to U,” the tweet finished.

Barr’s television program was cancelled after a tweet in which she compared former adviser to President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, to a mix between the Muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes.

“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby = [Valerie Jarrett]”, that tweet read.

Ms Jarrett was born in Iran to African American parents.

Barr’s tweet about Ms Jarrett isn’t the first time she’s waded into racist territory with her Twitter account, and it is not even the first time she has targeted a black member of Mr Obama’s administration, either.

In 2013, for instance, Barr tweeted a racist sentiment about former National Security Adviser Susan Rice.

“Susan Rice is a man with big swinging ape balls,” Barr wrote in that tweet.

Barr has been a vocal supporter of Mr Trump, and has expressed a belief that the government is operating a mind control experiment — specifically, a 1960s CIA experiment known as MK Ultra — on Hollywood actors, producers and filmmakers to make them dislike and distrustful of Mr Trump.

“I wish they could hear [Mr Trump’s message] … they’re not hearing now because they’re under heavy MK Ultra mind control … if you’ve heard of any mind control, MK Ultra being the most successful … when you know how code words work, the actual power of words,” Barr said during an appearance on a podcast in 2017. She has also spoken about American mind control on Russia Today.

Barr has claimed that her racist tweet about Ms Jarrett were a side affect of having taken the insomnia drug Ambien. After making the claim, the maker of that drug company that makes Ambient said that, “Racism is not a side effect of our drug”.
