Police are responding to reports of a school shooting in the US state of Connecticut.
The school superintendent's office in Newtown says the district has locked down its schools as a preventive measure.
The shooting was reported at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in western Connecticut.
The superintendent's secretary, Kathy June, says reports of a shooting are not confirmed.
