Three arrested, machine gun found following lockdown at US Capitol building
Three people were arrested near the US Capitol building on Tuesday following reports of an armed suspect in the area.
Police said the suspects led them on a high-speed chase before their vehicle crashed, NBC Washington reports. Police also recovered a “mini-machine” gun and multiple rounds of ammunition at the scene.
US Capitol Police warned occupants inside the building of the ongoing pursuit, and issued a lockdown that lasted for 20 minutes. Speeches continued on the House floor and tourists remained in the visitors’ center.

Show all 7Senator Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat from Wisconsin , continued speaking on the floor as planned, Politico reports.
The Ford House Office Building was also placed on lockdown early Tuesday morning after a suspicious package was delivered to complex. The complex was also placed on lockdown for nearly an hour after reports of a suspicious person carrying a firearm near the buildings.
