'What's Zealand?' Trump supporter asks New Zealand journalist

Apparent confusion over whether New Zealand is a country or a radio station

The Trump supporter claimed the journalist was working for "the Clinton network" (Newshub)

Donald Trump supporters have been filmed heckling a foreign journalist after seemingly failing to understand that New Zealand is a country and not a broadcast network.

Footage released by the New Zealand radio station Newshub shows their reporter, Patrick Gower, attempting to speak to a group of Trump supporters at a rally in Miami, Florida.

Mr Gower approaches the group with a microphone but a man holding a ‘Make America Great Again’ sign begins shouting: “I’m not talking to the Clinton media. You guys are a sell-out."

The reporter attempts to defend himself, saying, “I’m from New Zealand though. I’m not part of the Clinton media."

This prompts the Trump supporter to pause for several seconds, seemingly lost for words.

He then continues: “What's Zealand? You’re not part of the Clinton network, are you? You’re not part of the lying media are you?”

Again the journalist tries to placate the man. “There is no Clinton network, though,” he points out.

Mr Gower asks: “We’re from New Zealand. What have we done?”

But the Trump voter remains undeterred, demanding the journalists “move along” and saying “you’re all disgusting."

"You’re saying there’s no Clinton network. Of course there is a Clinton network,” he adds.

There is no known television station named the Clinton Network.

Mr Trump has repeatedly attacked the media during the course of the presidential campaign. He has slammed “the corrupt corporate media” and suggested the press is composed of “thieves and crooks”.

Americans are casting their votes today, with polls suggesting the presidential race remains too close to call.
