Police in Texas captured some explosive footage when they filmed the controlled destruction of nearly 20,000 pounds worth of illegal fireworks.

The Midland’s Police bomb squad assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and bomb squads from Odessa and Amarillo, carried out the controlled explosion on Monday in a space away from any habitations. The illegal fireworks were collected during Midland Police raids that lasted just over three and a half days across Glasscock County.

The video that shows the court ordered disposal of the fireworks was posted on Midland Police Facebook Page and has already been viewed by almost 125,000 internet users.

Under the post Midland Police Department said that the controlled destruction was carried out in the day because “”it was not meant to be a fireworks show”.

The department also said that these fireworks could not be donated because of the court order for their destruction.
