Woman arrested for pulling out knife during Christmas toy giveaway

A woman has been arrested after a knife was pulled during a mass brawl at a Christmas toy giveaway.

Police in Detroit reportedly made the arrest after the fight broke out the City's Town Centre Mall on Saturday.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly pulling a knife on a 30-year-old woman inside the building.

The event was being run by a community programme called Toys Making IMPACTS, which was handing out Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children.

John Cromer, event organiser, told local TV station WXYZ: "People are already under a lot of stress and tension at this time of year.

"All it takes is for some people to step on someone's shoe or to bump into someone the wrong way and then a fight ensues.

"That has nothing to do with Toys Making IMPACTS."

It is understood there were several hundred people inside the shopping centre when the brawl started.
