Chinese farmers jailed for contaminating pork
More than 100 people in China, including civil servants, have been sentenced for planning to contaminate pork with a chemical which can cause nausea and heart palpitations in humans.
Farms in Henan province were found to be using the drug clenbuterol, which makes pork leaner but can harm humans. The main culprit, Liu Xiang, was sentenced to death with a delayed execution.
Such sentences are often commuted to life imprisonment.
