Traces of radiation from the Japanese nuclear plant damaged in the earthquake and tsunami in March were detected in baby formula yesterday.
The food maker, Meiji Co, said the levels of radioactive caesium were well below government safety limits, and would not have any effect on babies' health, even if they drank the formula every day.
However, it is recalling the canned powdered milk for infants, with expiry dates of October 2012, as a precaution.
