A teenage suicide bomber blew himself up near a religious procession of Shia Muslims in the Pakistani city of Lahore yesterday, killing at least 13 people.
Islamist militants linked to al-Qa'ida and the Taliban have attacked such religious gatherings in the past as part of their bloody campaign to create chaos and topple the US-backed Pakistani government.
Later in the day, a second bombing hit a similar Shia procession in Karachi. One policeman was killed and two were wounded.
