Seven people were killed and 22 injured when two knife-wielding men hijacked a truck and then attacked a crowd, Chinese police sources said.
The attack last night happened in the Silk Road city of Kashgar in the north west region on Xinjiang.
An official at the Xinjiang regional public security bureau said two men hijacked a lorry and stabbed its driver to death.
She said the men then drove the lorry into a crowd and got out and attacked pedestrians.
The official said that one of the suspects was killed during the incident and the other was caught. The men's motive was unclear.
