Teen throws boiling water into girl's face after she unfriended him on Facebook
The girl sustained 20 per cent burns to her face in the attack
A teenager is being treated for burns in an Indian hospital after a boy allegedly threw boiling water over her face when she deleted him from her Facebook friends.
The Times of India reported that the boy, from Bihar state in northern India, reportedly came to the victim's home in Gannipur locality and said he was looking for his lost identity card on Wednesday afternoon, according to the victim's police statement. He then allegedly pushed the 15-year-old girl's mother aside and poured boiling water over her face.
The unidentified girl is undergoing treatment in a hospital in the Muzaffarpur district after sustaining 20 per cent burns to her face during the incident, The Hindustan Times has reported.
In her statement, the girl said: "My father is a teacher and he used to come for tuitions to our home.
"I accepted his (Facebook) friend request a year ago because I found him decent then. But of late he had become abusive and so I 'unfriended' him last week."
Upendra Kumar, Deputy superintendent of police told the paper an investigation into the incident had been launched.
The male accused of carrying out the attack is believed to be an undergraduate student at a Muzaffarpur college.
