Woman, 107, seeks 23rd husband
A centenarian from Malaysia is hoping to marry for the 23rd time to overcome her loneliness after her current husband was admitted into a drug rehabilitation programme.
Mek Wok Kundor, 107, married her most recent husband Mohamad Noor Che Musa, 37, in 2005. They separated in July when he was admitted to a rehabilitation programme in the capital Kuala Lumpur.
A resident of the northern state of Terengganu, Ms Mek Wok said she believes her 22nd husband might not return after completing the rehab programme and settle down with a younger woman in the city instead.
She said she was lonely and added: "Lately, there is this kind of insecurity in me."
Ms Mek Wok said she planned to visit Mr Mohamad Noor to express her feelings and that she was willing to wait for him.
She refused to discuss why her previous marriages failed, but said she realised she was old.
"I realise that I am an aged woman. I don't have the body nor am I a young woman who can attract anyone," an Indian newspaper quoted her saying.
"I am not searching for a man as handsome as our prime minister (Najib Razak), but someone to accompany me in my twilight years."
