Auditor quits in expenses row
Wellington - New Zealand's auditor general, appointed to scrutinise the government's books, has resigned because of alleged irregularities in his expenses. Jeff Chapman was one of the government's most senior officials. Paul East, the minister responsible for the Audit office, said he had appointed an independent accountant to investigate Mr Chapman's expenses. AFP
