Australian topless bathing ban urged

By Penny Tweedie, Reuters

A group of conservative politicians is making headway towards a ban on topless bathing on some of Australia's best known beaches.

Christian lawmaker and veteran morals campaigner Reverend Fred Nile has won backing from key politicians in New South Wales state, home to Sydney and its famed ocean beaches, to tighten existing laws covering nude sunbathing.

The move has provoked strong reaction from easy-going sunworshippers.

Offended Christians

Why is it that so-called Christians, the like of the Reverend Fred Nile, lack any Christian charity? Dear Reverend Nile if you are offended by ogling topless sunbathers then look the other way. But what really offends the Reverend is that he cannot dictate what other must do and, moreover, what others must think. His concept of morality shall be the only morality.

As ridiculous as the reverend sounds there, it says something about us in the UK where topless bating is prohibited on virtually all of our beaches. That nonsense he cames out there with, topless bathers lacking self respect, it's a voice which has won in Britain.
Creeping effects of Christian Fundamentalism at it again

Are you telling me that one God-botherer can have his 'way' over this matter? These types creep into every aspect of daily life all over the world. They'll have you believe you've got the devil on your shoulder just for owning a black cat and/or putting make-up on.
I suggest people read:
"Casting the First Stone" by R.A. Gilbert, to see how religious fundamentalism tries encroach into every aspect of daily life and will use any means at it's disposal to pursue it's aims as does Islamic fundamentalism.

I am not sure about the Title Deeds to a cat, more so their connection with Brisbanic Boobs only insomuchas the oft used nickname for a single cat.
However, it's a fact that cats own their 'custodians/keepers' and never the other way round. Anyone that thinks the opposite is a deluded fool.
Anyway, anyone that likes cats can't be all bad and gets a cautious nod of approval from this quarter. If they topless sunbathe as well is more to the good.
A sight to behold (apart from a semi-naked lady sunbathing) is that of an idiotic cat [black or otherwise] sitting for hours playing with a dribble of tap water, most probably while a bigger idiot looks on. . .

we have to evolve as a species which can accept women's breasts as something more than a men's plaything. When we see the breast as past of a woman's body without shame or male ownership then women can sit comfortably on the beach with no top on as nobody will be bothered. Let's face it - it is men's problem here, if a beach full of women are together minus tops then nobody is bothered - it is the projection of men's infantile obsession with the bosom that is the problem.
what about men with moobs?

While they're at it, they should also ban topless bathing for all men who are more than 10% overweight according to the body mass index (BMI), because those men almost always have man boobs (moobs). Access to the beach must only be allowed through a system of turnstiles, where officials will officially measure the men's body mass index in an officious manner, and those with a BMI more than 10% above the optimal BMI will be instructed to put on a t-shirt.

What the hell has topless bathing got to do with christianity? Jesus didn't say anything about this issue. Why is it that a small minority of so-called christians are so hell-bent on transforming a religion of peace into a cult of bigotry? Christians should love sex and the human body and hate war and those who find nakedness disgusting. These people hate Jesus and God's creation, they are trying to hijack an established religion of peace and love and make Christ's name code for hatred and self-loathing. I'm so glad I'm not a Christian (cats can't be baptised).

A cat playing with a dribble of tapwater (whilst the 'elsewhere mentioned' fool looks on) tends to end up Baptized in a roundabout way anyway.

Why doesn't Revd Fred Nile get a life. For one I wouldn't want him on a beach next to me.

If some so called politicians are worried, have more clothes optional beaches, especially here in Qld. It is as bad as making breast feeding illegal and total sex discrimination and should be illegal.

Also, kids should be brought up to be happy wih themselves, not self conscious and ashedm of who they are. If Fred Nile was really a believer in God, he would respext peoples beliefs and Gods gift of free will to everyone.

Any one who wants to stop this, please join Free beaches Australia

I agree with Mr Nile that topless sunbathing by woman is revolting. Let women who want to strip off have their own beaches, and stay on those like nudists have to do, and away from decent people and families.

I'm an atheist and I don't believe in all that God nonsense, but I do believe in decency and propriety.
you may feel apprehensive

There is a difference in nudism or naturalism and pornography. Nudism believes in the freedom from the restrictions of clothing, Porn is for sexual gratification. And you may need to check http://www.naturistspace.org out there.
