Deaf baby's 'truly amazing' reaction after hearing his mother's voice for the first time
Lachlan Lever's parents have released the touching moment on YouTube
The Australian parents of a baby boy born deaf have shared the touching moment their son heard their voices for the first time on YouTube.
Lachlan Lever was born with moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears. He was fitted with a hearing aid when he was seven-weeks-old and his parents captured the moment on video.
At first, Lachlan is clearly distressed as the hearing aid is placed in his ear and begins to cry. But after hearing his parent’s voice for the first time, his face breaks into a smile.
Lachlan’s parents said they “cried from happiness” at their son’s “truly amazing reaction” to the hearing aid being switched on.
The video was taken two years ago but the couple have only recently released it.
They said: “Our beautiful little boy is now two years old and doing remarkably well”.
The video was uploaded a week ago and has already been viewed over five million times.
