Australia's striptease artists and topless waitresses are forming a trade union because no other labour group wants to represent them.

Australia's striptease artists and topless waitresses are forming a trade union because no other labour group wants to represent them, a spokeswoman said today.

The Striptease Artists Australia Inc filed for official recognition as a trade union to represent strippers, topless waitresses, lap dancers and tabletop dancers. It will seek better pay and working conditions for its members and represent then in wage negotiations and industrial disputes

"So far no other organisation wishes to associate with the nature of the striptease industry," said the group's spokeswoman, who identified herself by her stage name, Mystical Melody.

The union will seek pay scales based on how much naked flesh their members exhibit during a performance, the spokeswoman said.
