Boutros-Ghali calls on world leaders to support UN
NEW YORK - In an impassioned plea for world support for the beleaguered UN, Mr Boutros-Ghali yesterday called on world leaders to explain to their citizens the key role the UN is playing in international security, or face the possibility of the UN closing its doors, writes Peter Pringle. It was an attempt to reply to the recent wave of US criticism of UN operations, particularly in Somalia.
