Britain cancels Cyprus meeting
Britain has cancelled a meeting with Rauf Denktash, the Turkish Cypriot leader, following an ultimatum by the President of the Greek Cypriot republic, writes Annika Savill. President Glafcos Clerides said that if the meeting between Mr Denktash and Douglas Hurd, the Foreign Secretary, was held on Thursday, he would boycott a lunch given by Mr Hurd for both Cypriot leaders.
