Chechen MPs revolt
Parliament in the rebel Russian region of Chechnya moved to impeach the president, Dzhokhar Dudayev, a day after he dissolved the legislature and imposed a midnight-to-dawn curfew, Reuter reports from Moscow.
Deputies started impeachment proceedings against General Dudayev for 'trying to carry out a state coup', the parliament chairman, Husain Akhmadov, said. Parliament annulled General Dudayev's decrees dissolving the legislature and government and imposing the curfew.
