Court revokes headscarf ban
CAIRO (Reuter) - Egypt's High Administrative court overruled a decision by the Education Minister banning schoolgirls from wearing Islamic headscarves unless their parents gave them written approval.
The court said the minister, Kamal Hussein Bahaeddin, had over-stepped his authority by trying to impose a standard school uniform. Mr Bahaeddin said fundamentalist teachers had been imposing the hejab by force.
