Criminals face caning
Malaysia plans to cane those guilty of white-collar crime - but the idea has outraged human rights groups, Reuter reports from Kuala Lumpur. The Law Minister, Syed Hamid Albar, presented a bill calling for a minimum jail sentence of two years, caning with a rattan rod and a fine for commercial crimes.
