Battle dead
MOSCOW (Reuter) - More than a million Soviet soldiers were killed in the Battle of Stalingrad which turned the tide of the Second World War 50 years ago, and at least 13,500 were executed for cowardice, Russian historians said. Official accounts of the battle had put the figure at several hundred thousand.
