BONN (Reuter) - The German Finance Minister, Theo Waigel, denied suggestions that Bonn was exaggerating the size of its transfers to eastern Germany and that taxes raised to finance unification were being spent partly in the west. The Finance Ministry released a letter from Mr Waigel to Christian Democratic MPs saying Bonn's net transfers to the five states of eastern Germany would total 55bn marks (pounds 20bn) in 1993.
