Europe Day has been going since the European Union's beginnings in 1950 and celebrates a continent with about 45 countries, 23 languages, 50 mountain ranges - as well as a clear cut-off point at Portugal but only a hazy boundary north towards Russia and east to Georgia.

Indeed, an official list of the countries which count as "Europe" does not actually exist, which is perhaps why so many are keen to join the European Union and cement their place in the club.

So from who exports the most beer to who Mr Heinz Fischer is, this is a quiz to show how much you do not know about the continent that has been knocking around in our consciousnesses since we said goodbye to the Romans.
