The European Union called for stronger laws against forgeries and violations of trademarks and copyrights, AFP reports from Brussels.

A meeting of EU ministers responsible for single market regulations welcomed proposals from the EU Tax and Customs Commissioner, Christiane Scrivener, for more vigorous action against counterfeiters.
