French go cooler on Maastricht
Paris (Reuter) - Two opinion polls indicated that support was waning in France for the Maastricht Treaty on European union, but voters would still approve the accords in next month's referendum.
The polls, for the weekly L'Evenement du Jeudi and the Japanese broker Daiwa Securities, put the lead of Maastricht supporters at 6 to 8 percentage points, against margins of 12-14 in previous surveys earlier this month.
