Iraq denies weapons allegations
Iraq ridiculed a US Senate report alleging Gulf war troops were exposed to harmful levels of chemical and possibly biological war agents, Reuter reports from Amman. An Iraqi spokesman accused 'certain American quarters and the Zionist lobby of seeking to mislead the US Congress and cover up on reasons behind the mysterious disease that afflicted thousands of American and British troops during the Gulf war'. Defense Department officials have said there is no evidence of Iraqi chemical or biological warfare attacks during the 1991 war.
