Mayor ousted
The Mayor of Brussels, Michel Demaret, was replaced by a deputy, Fernand Lefere, yesterday in a scandal over public tenders and lewd comments about the Pope, Reuter reports from Brussels. Parliament heard Mr Demaret was being investigated following allegations of 'questionable practices' in tender awards.
In an interview in Le Soir Illustre, he said the Pope 'does not know how to use a condom and puts it on his index finger'.
