Opposition leader arrested
Lagos - Nigeria's military authorities arrested Ayo Opadokun, general secretary of the main opposition group, Nadeco, after they raided his Lagos hideout. Nadeco said he was taken to an 'unspecified location'.
Several leaders of Nadeco have been detained since the alliance of politicians, retired senior military officers and pro-democracy activists was formed in May. It is campaigning for the military to leave power and recognise the results of the annulled presidential election last year, in which Moshood Abiola claimed victory. He is on trial for treason, for declaring himself president. Reuter
