Parliament defends mayor
The French parliament declined yesterday to lift the immunity of the Lyons mayor, Michel Noir, under investigation on suspicion of diverting city funds to finance his election campaign, Reuter reports from Paris. The National Assembly president, Philippe Seguin, said parliamentary action was needed only if a member faced arrest.
