Pope Benedict XVI has been visited at the Vatican by a group of ski instructors in full snow gear. The Pope praised skiing as an activity that "makes us feel small and returns us to our true dimension as creatures".

He also had praise for the group of instructors. "Your engagement as 'ski masters' helps to boost certain capacities, for example, steadfastness in pursuing aims, respect for the rules, tenacity in confronting and surmounting difficulties," he said, and noted that it could promote "Christian values".
