Severed penis trial unlikely

MANASSAS, VIRGINIA - The lawyer for John Wayne Bobbitt, the ex-Marine acquitted of raping his wife, said yesterday he doubted that Lorena Bobbitt would stand trial for cutting off her husband's penis, Reuter reports.

Instead Gregory Murphy - the lawyer for the 26- year-old labourer found innocent after a three-day trial for marital sexual assault - said he believed Lorena Bobbitt 'would strike a (plea) deal and avoid trial.'
