Turks shut paper
ISTANBUL - Police raids and arrests have effectively closed down Turkey's main pro-Kurdish newspaper, Ozgur Gundem, triggering protests from human rights groups, writers and press associations, writes Hugh Pope. The detention of virtually all the paper's reporters and the confiscation of equipment meant the paper was printed on one sheet in one or two towns on Saturday.
