Two killed as floods hit Genoa
Rome (Reuter) - Italy's sixth biggest city, Genoa, awoke to scenes of devastation yesterday after torrential rains swept away hundreds of cars and killed a young boy and his grandmother. One of the rivers flowing through Genoa broke its banks after six inches of rain fell during a five-hour period on Sunday. A wall of water then rushed through the streets, sweeping away hundreds of parked cars. The boy, 5, and his grandmother, 84, were drowned when the torrent poured into their flat.
