Ukraine rejects Russian plan for sharing Soviet debt
KIEV - Ukraine said yesterday it wanted to pay its own 16.37 per cent share of the dollars 80bn (pounds 53bn) debt run up by the former Soviet Union and rejected a deal made in November in which Russia would provide an inventory of property abroad to be divided between Moscow and Kiev, Reuter reports.
Western officials said it was impossible to divide the debt.
