Firefighters battle to save Sydney homes as bushfires close in on the suburbs
Bushfires reached Sydney's northern suburb of Marsfield yesterday where exhausted firefighters, who have been tackling bushfires in New South Wales for almost a week, faced 100ft-high flames. More than 90 fires are burning out of control - most of them are thought to have been started deliberately - and three men have died in the flames.
