Flat Earth: Publicity grab
YOU may remember the obscure but memorable advertising campaign 'It is, are you?' that launched our sister newspaper, The Independent, in 1986.
In Sweden, newspapers advertise their talents much less subtly, though perhaps as memorably. Last week the self- regulating newspaper and advertising industry's ethics panel was aghast. Folkbladet Ostgoten, a newspaper in the provinces, has displayed its talent for investigative journalism by posting huge billboard photographs of a man's hand groping under a woman's skirt. The caption is: 'Folkbladet makes a point of prying into what others try to hide'.
