Libyan commander 'attempted a coup'
WASHINGTON - The commander of Libya's forces in Chad attempted to overthrow Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan leader, earlier this week, ABC News reported. The commander was thwarted by Colonel Gaddafi's air force when he pushed towards Tripoli with armoured units from Chad, ABC said. Attributing his information to unnamed sources, the network's Pentagon correspondent said 250 soldiers were killed and hundreds more were taken prisoner. Reuter
